Quick answer
Subtract 13 hours to convert SGT to EST. 9:00 PM SGT is 8:00 AM EST, and 12:00 noon SGT is 11:00 PM EST on the previous day. SGT is UTC+8. EST is UTC−5. Singapore does not observe daylight saving time.
When New York is on EDT
Subtract 12 hours. 8:00 PM SGT is 8:00 AM EDT, and 12:00 noon SGT is 12:00 midnight EDT. A meeting that was 9:00 PM Singapore and 8:00 AM Eastern in winter becomes 8:00 PM Singapore if you keep 8:00 AM Eastern after the US clock change, or it becomes 9:00 AM Eastern if you keep 9:00 PM Singapore.
Singapore and the US East Coast workday
Singapore evening is US Eastern morning. During EST, 8:00 AM in New York is 9:00 PM in Singapore. During EDT, 8:00 AM in New York is 8:00 PM in Singapore. Morning in Singapore is evening the previous day on the US East Coast, which is a poor overlap for a live meeting.
Do not reuse a China offset by accident
Singapore and Beijing are both UTC+8 with no daylight saving time, so the hour gap to EST and EDT matches mainland China. The cities are still not interchangeable for holidays, language, or local business hours. Name Singapore or SGT when that is the place you mean.
